Anti-Semitic views still dwell in many minds around the world, overburnt remnants of medieval times as well as more recent and more painful remembrances of the Holocaust. There are also those who prefer to believe the conspiracy theories of the Elders of Zion, fabricated document from the end of the 18th century with grossly anti-Semitic overtones, referring to Jewish world domination. Consequently, yet stemming from different perspectives as those listed above, there are those who trust the fate of the people of Israel to the destiny of the entire world, an ethno-centric view which deals its arguments from an epistemologically correct position. Finally, there are those historians who objectively applaud the Jewish mind and its transgression of history, finding this people at the vertex of culture, philosophy, religion and society. Indeed, what other people in this world have witnessed and taken pa rt in more of the human career... have recorded more of it, shaped more of it, originated more of it, above all, suffered more of it, than any other.. The purpose of this essay is to describe the impact of the Jewish people on the 20th century by analyzing their search for a nation state. Ultimately, a better understanding of Jewish culture will be attempted, with specific attention given to the Zionist movement, and its effects on the past decades. It is not false to state that the Jewish people have offered humanity a road to universality by engendering change in ever-increasing circles; ripples that permeated and affected man himself. Minds such as those of Freud, Einstein and Marx have offered new insights into the human psyche, the physical universe and the social environment of man.
